ヴィンセント・デ・ボーアは、9月上旬から12月上旬までの
3ヶ月間、日本で滞在しているオランダ人アーティストです。
11月には、さっぽろ天神山アートスタジオで滞在制作を行い
ます。 アーティストは、学び、眺め、提示し、新しい作品を
制作することを通じて、自身のカリグラフィー(*注釈:文字を
美しく見せるための手法)アートの修練が、いかに日本から
影響を受けているか探求しています。
　
アーティストの日本でのプロジェクトは、
ユトレヒト(オランダ)のK.Fハイン基金の協力によるものです。
また、このプロジェクトはアーティストの創作活動を用いて
日本の現代美術と工芸的な伝統の相互的作用を描きだすもの
です。
　
アーティストは独自の現代的な解釈で昔から存在する工芸的
技法を捉える実験をおこなっており、その結果、この両極の
間に緊張をもたらしています。「 カリグラフィー」、「漢字」
「言葉の壁」を際立った特徴とする作品のシリーズ は、日本
での滞在経験から生まれました。

　
Vincent de Boer (1988) is a Dutch artist who stays
in Japan for a period of three months, from early
September to early December. During November
he will work from Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio.
By means of learning, observing, presenting, and
creating new works, he examines how his
calligraphic art practice relates to Japan.

This project is a collaboration with the K.F. Hein Fund
from Utrecht and is based on a mutual understanding
of how Vincent his art practice can draw on Japanese
contemporary art and artisanal traditions. In his his
work he experiments with an autonomous contemporary
interpretation of an age-old craft, resulting in a
field of tension between two extremes.

Vincent’s experiences in Japan have led to a series of
works in which calligraphy, the Kanji character and
the language barrier are central aspects.
